Dental Care

Prisma's dentists and specialists provide care to people aged 1 to 101.

General and preventive dentistry
Care is provided delicately and precisely, without pain, using advanced methods. Whether for a full examination or a radiological or muscular evaluation, Prisma's dentists are attentive to your needs and offer varied solutions explained to you in clear language. They provide an environment that is comfortable, respectful, warm and discreet. Where cleaning is required, a team of qualified specialists uses the latest methods for optimal results.
Esthetic dentistry
A responsible dentist recommends esthetic dentistry only after careful examination of the patient's teeth. If the teeth and gums are not healthy, the beneficial effects of treatment will not be long-lasting, whether for whitening, crowns, ceramic veneers or other treatments. Based on the dentist's evaluation, patients will be advised if esthetic dentistry is worth pursuing.
Denturology
Once the teeth and mouth are examined, particular prostheses will be suggested. The denturologist will then take impressions and handle fitting and insertion. Adjustments are also provided when needed to ensure a perfect fit between the prosthesis and the jaw. Whether full or partial, fixed or removable, on a soft base or on implants, prostheses (formerly called dentures) are now biofunctional and are made and fitted so well that they are often mistaken for real teeth. The latest technology provides optimal comfort and facilitates chewing and diction.
Whitening
Over time, teeth tend to develop pigmentation problems and can turn yellow. In addition, the consumption of certain drinks (such as coffee, tea or wine) and the effects of tobacco contribute to discoloration. Tooth whitening is a very good way of restoring an attractive and natural look. The effectiveness and safety of this technique allows a change of several shades in a single visit. With only a minimum of upkeep, the result can last a very long time. With new technologies, there are almost no side effects.
Cerec
This device restores ceramic surfaces (veneers, crowns or inlays) in a single session. With optical impressions of prepared teeth, restorations are crafted in porcelain blocks. This technique provides results of outstanding durability, esthetic quality and perfect bio-compatibility (the same property as a tooth). The tooth's integrity is maintained, with no metal, and this is better than traditional fillings.
Orthodontics
Whether for esthetic or functional reasons, every year many patients choose orthodontics to improve their chewing ability and the profile of their jaws. Applying various traditional or transparent dental devices, orthodontics corrects tooth alignment. With new technologies, treatment takes less time than before and, in some cases, treatment time can even be cut in half.
Snoring And Sleep Apnea Treatment
Snoring and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome sometimes lead to hypertension, adult diabetes, frequent morning headaches, drowsiness and inability to focus. Without treatment, the patient's cardio-pulmonary condition may deteriorate. In addition, lack of sleep may cause a number of other medical and social problems. After researching the available jaw-advancement prostheses on the market, the Prisma clinic offers SomnoDent® as the device of choice for treating patients.
Neuromuscular Dentistry
This facet of dentistry harmonizes teeth with the jaw muscles and joints. Sometimes, misalignment or grinding of the teeth can cause muscle pain, headaches, migraines or neck pain. Once the muscles are relaxed in the clinic, neuromuscular dentistry helps set an ideal position for the jaws so that the teeth of the upper jaw and lower jaw can be perfectly aligned. There are also very simple devices that help stop grinding of the teeth.
Implants and mini-implants
For more than 25 years, dental implants and mini-implants have been the most esthetic and solid solution for replacing missing teeth and stopping pain caused by gum irritation or exposed nerves. Implants attach prostheses, crowns or bridges solidly to the bone by means of a titanium anchor fitted surgically beneath the gum in the upper and/or lower jawbone. Mini-implants are used when the bone surface does not allow for regular implants to be fitted.
ALL-ON-4 IMPLANTS™
The time when people wore dentures is over. Today, several choices of prostheses are available, but a revolutionary new technique is now available at Prisma dentists and specialists. The ALL-ON-4™ method is a dental implant procedure that provides permanent teeth in one day while recovering masticatory function on the same day. This procedure is clinically and scientifically documented, minimally invasive, painless and is more affordable than traditional procedures. The new teeth can be cleaned and brushed like natural teeth. One jaw, 12 teeth, 4 implants, one day ... and half the cost!
Geriatric Dentistry
Some dental problems appear only with age, and aging of the teeth may aggravate some older repairs or initial problems. Special care must be taken, especially to ensure that the solutions applied are the least painful, most effective and quickest possible. It is also important for a young, natural look to be preserved. A specialized dentist can meet the needs of elderly patients more effectively.
Periodontics
This involves treatment of the tissue supporting the teeth: gums, bones and periodontal ligaments. More than half of all adults show a degree of periodontal deterioration. This illness generally has no symptoms except at advanced stages. Whether through a preventive or surgical approach, periodontal therapy aims to restore good oral health.
Surgery
Whether for wisdom teeth, gum grafts or remodelling of ridges to allow for new prostheses, dental surgery is sometimes necessary to maintain dental and periodontal health. Surgery may also be very useful in orthodontics to obtain a proper alignment of the teeth. Prisma's dentists and specialists advocate a "pain-free" approach.
Pedodontics
This dental care specialty, for children aged 1 to 16, is among the most important because this is the time when good dental health habits are established. The relationship between dentists and their young patients must be based on great confidence, co-operation and pleasant dialogue. This means providing care, explaining things in simple terms, educating, reassuring and encouraging children while guiding them during the various stages of their dental development. Communication with parents is also essential.
Endodontics
This involves treatment of the pulp in the centre of each tooth. Deep decay or trauma to the tooth can cause the pulp to become infected, requiring a root canal treatment. This safe treatment, with a very high success rate, avoids the loss of natural teeth and prevents the need for implants or prostheses. More than 1.5 million teeth are saved each year in Canada thanks to endodontics. New technologies and devices provide for greater success than anything done in the past.
Emergencies
In a dental emergency, members of the Prisma team of dentists and specialists quickly make themselves available to the patient and provide all necessary care while relieving pain as fast as possible.
